FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is your service area? We provide quality wedding and portrait photography services to clients in the Maryland, Washington DC and Virginia areas. On occasion, we are available for out-of-state events for an additional fee to cover transport and accommodations.

How long have you been in business? Close to 20 years.

How many weddings have you provided photography services for? All in all, we’ve photographed over 200 weddings. We’ve provided quality photography services for 10 – 30 weddings each year for the last 15 years. We photographed fewer weddings in the first 5 years, and some years since then have been extremely busy while others have been slower due to us going on vacation, traveling, etc.

Do you belong to any associations? Yes, we belong to the Videographers / Photographers Association of North America.

Do you carry insurance? Yes, we carry Equipment Coverage and General Liability Insurance.

Do you work with an assistant? Yes we do. An assistant is an indispensible asset, allowing us to concentrate on composing and capturing great shots of important activities taking place at the event.

Can you give me some of your references? Out of respect for our clients’ privacy, we don’t give out references. Most of our clients have expressed the desire to be left alone and not pestered with 10 -20 phone calls or emails every week from people requesting information from them. You’ll appreciate that piece of mind yourself once you become a client.

How can I be sure I will get great results by hiring you to photograph my wedding or take my portrait? From our experience, clear and frequent communication between us is the key to your satisfaction. While we are confident about our knowledge, skills and photography equipment, we still rely on concise communication from you regarding your goals and desires in order to ensure your satisfaction with our work.

Can we meet prior to booking you for our wedding or event? We will gladly meet with you after we receive a refundable Reservation fee of $500. That Reservation fee is refundable up to 7 days after the meeting. We get 5 – 15 calls each day and, with all the events and office work we have on our schedule, can’t possibly afford the time to meet with everyone that calls. Make sure you read all the information on our site and call or email to ask any questions you may have prior to making the Reservation fee payment. That will enable you to feel comfortable about initially committing to a Reservation fee. Keep in mind that the fee is applied towards your chosen photography package if you decide to hire us, but is refundable up to 7 days after the meeting if you decide not to hire us.

Do you shoot with film or digital cameras? We now use high-quality, professional grade digital photography equipment.

Aren’t film cameras better than digital cameras? Aren’t oranges better than apples? Both are good, but for different reasons and applications. They’re not intended to be the same. A good photographer can produce superior results using either one, while neither one will enable a lousy photographer to achieve quality results.

Can you offer custom packages other than what you have described on your PACKAGES page? Yes, we are happy to work with you to create a custom photography package for your wedding or event.

You say your photography style is ‘Photojournalistic’. What does that mean? The best definition of what we do can be found at Wikipedia and reads as follows: “A wedding photojournalist is a person who takes photographs during a wedding for a profession. They use an alternative approach to wedding photography wherein images are captured spontaneously to emphasize moments and emotion. Much like photojournalists for the media, wedding photojournalists present a story through the use of photographs. A wedding photojournalist typically shoots images quickly using available light or on-camera flash rather than using traditional, formal posing techniques and studio lights. A wedding photojournalist carries his or her photography gear, candidly capturing images during wedding day preparations, ceremony and reception party”.
